In reply to Brenda Woollard’s post on December 4, No, create an account now. It is the DacMagic XS. The manual states that no specific driver software is needed and that it should appear as a selectable device for sound output but it doesn’t.
Sorry this didn’t help. My system is a HP Laptop running Windows I hate to suggest people buy something new to fix a problem, but this might be life nudging you to upgrade.

Brenda Woollard Replied on December 4, Really, for this particular matter of detecting the device the DAC isn’t any different from a USB keyboard or mouse, which of course nobody would ever put up with re-plugging on reboot.
